Uni Update

IMG_4779Hey everyone, sorry for not posting for absolutely ages. I had a great summer and then moved to university and started all of my assignments and wanted to fully settle into university life before writing this post.

I am in my first year studying Marketing Management at University of Lincoln and I’ve now been here for just over 9 weeks. To start with, I was extremely home sick and didn’t think I would end up staying at university. I am very close to my family and even though I could Facetime them, I found it very difficult learning to live with new people away from home. Fortunately, my flatmates are really nice and I’ve also become really good friends with some of my coursemates and also Charlotte’s flatmates, Ellie and Morgan, who I will be living with next year. Last week, we paid the deposit for our new house and we are so excited to live together away from student accommodation!

I am really enjoying my course, I find it so interesting. I am currently studying 4 modules: Principles of Marketing, Marketing Professional, Organisational Behaviour and Analysis of Business Data. The only module I’m not so keen on is Organisational Behaviour because I just find it so confusing but I think most people studying this module are feeling the same. I recently sat my first exam which was for Analysis of Business Data, I can happily say that I managed to score 48/50 in the exam which I am so, so happy with! I have also completed an essay for Principles of Marketing, as well as a group report and presentation for Marketing Professional. I have three more assignments before I come home for Christmas on 15th December and then 2 exams in January.

The nightlife in Lincoln believe it or not is actually much better than Norwich! The two night clubs I have been to, Home and Moka, play really good music and sell cheap drinks. Also in Lincoln, they have student night on a Tuesday and a Thursday which works well for me because I don’t have to go into uni until 12pm on Wednesdays and Fridays so I am able to go out. As well as this, Lincoln has a Bierkeller which Norwich doesn’t and we always end up in there around 2am until it closes at 3am, after we’ve been to Home. They sell Steins of cocktails which are full of alcohol and make you so drunk but taste good. The concept of Bierkeller is basically standing on benches singing to classic songs, such as Come on Eileen. It’s so much fun and everyone enjoys it! When people told me that uni turns you into an alcoholic I just laughed but now I understand as we go out at least twice a week!!

My accommodation is really good for the price I’m paying compared to most other universities. I get a 3/4 bed, massive desk and en-suite. There is a lot of space and the kitchen/lounge is a decent size too. The only downside is that I couldn’t bring my IKEA Alex Drawers as there isn’t space for them, but I bought new makeup drawers that I can put on my desk. My accommodation is the furthest from the city, probably a 20 minute walk, which is annoying after a night out as I either have to walk back alone, sleep at Charlotte’s or get my friends to walk me back but apart from that it’s perfect!

I have 4 weeks left until I go home for 5 weeks for Christmas. At first, the weeks went on for ages as I was so homesick and didn’t have much to do to distract me so I planned to visit friends or go home each weekend so I didn’t get bored and lonely. However, now that I have lectures, seminars and assignments due, time is going much faster and I can’t believe how little time there is until I go home for Christmas! I have visited Jack in Sheffield 3 times now, as well as going home 3 times, having family visit and having Jack, Bron, Charlotte, Talia and Liv all visit, too.

I hope you enjoyed my university update, and hopefully I will be able to write some more posts as soon as possible as I have some new makeup items that I want to write about!

Lots of love,

Erin x
